Congratulations, you've found THE house and you've agreed on the terms and price. The closing is the last step of purchasing your home. Landmark TItle Group is here to help you through the process of moving from the contract on a house to closing the deal and completing the final transfer of money and keys. 

​Though most closings take place at our office at 3646 Youree Drive, we are able to arrange for a remote closing location.
















Who typically attends the closing?

The buyer, seller, both real estate professionals and an attorney are typically present at the closing. Sometimes the lender will send a representative to the closing as well.


What to expect at closing

You will need to bring a government - issued ID (i.e., valid drivers license, a picture ID issued by the state or a valid passport). We will make copies of your ID before the closing begins.  


You will be reviewing and signing multiple documents at the closing. There are two sets of documents you will be reading and signing off on at the closing: ​mortgage/loan documents and real estate documents.


After all documents have been reviewed and signed, you will provide good funds (cashier's check or wire transfer) to the title company. The closer then distributes checks to the appropriate parties and the seller will give you the keys for your new home (depending on the agreement of possession date).  

You have two choices of how you would like to receive copies of the signed closing documents:
- paperless (documents via email)
- paper copies of all documents


What to expect after closing

After the closing, Landmark Title Group will immediately record the Mortgage, Cash Sale and other pertinent documents with the Parish Clerk's office and send you a copy of the recorded documents.

The title policy is generally issued within 30 days of the closing. This is an important document for you to file with your other legal documents once you receive it.

Helpful tips to consider when scheduling your closing:


- If you are moving out of a house that you are selling, consider trying to schedule both closings for
  the same day allowing for ample time to complete both.


- Make sure your closing date is set before your lender's commitment or your interest rate lock  
  expires.

- Most closings take between one and two hours but taking half a day off from work can help
​  alleviate your stress if things run over that timeframe.
